You can do it!

When it comes to fundraising, you can let your imagination run wild! If you can imagine it, we can help you do it. On this page we discuss a few ideas of how you can go about raising funds for Ethelbert Children’s Home, but don’t limit yourself – contact us with your idea and we will help wherever we can.

Schools/Nurseries

  • Teddy Bear Walk. Your children could take their favourite teddies on a sponsored walk or picnic, ask us how.
  • Sponsored Walk. Primary school children love the idea of a sponsored walk, have fun with the route and the prizes and you’ll be surprised at the response.
  • Art auction. Why not encourage your class to paint a special picture and then organise an auction with the parents, all in aid of Ethelbert Children’s Home? Or you could try a talent show, challenging parents or teachers to a sports match, face painting or a sponsored silence.

Students

If you are a student you can make a difference by raising funds for children in need! Why don’t you:

  • Organise an event. Whether it is a masked ball or river rafting challenge, you can inspire other students to become involved with your fun fundraising projects.
  • Take part in a race. If you are planning on doing the Comrades, Duzi or even just a 10km walk, get sponsorship and raise funds and awareness for Ethelbert.

Start a group!

Get together with some friends or colleagues and start a fundraising group in your area. It’s a great way to share group fundraising ideas, meet new people and have some fun – all while doing something incredibly worthwhile! You can arrange small events every month, or perhaps plan one big annual event – a dinner, dance, ball or sports event, for example.

Churches

There are many ways to get your church involved in and we have lots of church fundraising ideas. You could:

  • Celebrate Christmas with a collection to help vulnerable children – the Methodist Church in KZN already does this and so supply a third of our basic needs.
  • Head out together after morning service for a sponsored walk.
  • Give regularly to Ethelbert Children’s Home as a church – help us to always be there for the children and young people in Durban who need it the most
  • Organise an event such as a book fair, cake sale, tea garden or Christmas gift sale and so raise funds for Ethelbert’s children.
  • Small change, big difference. Ask people at church to save their loose change in an Ethelbert Children’s Home collection tin – it’s true that every little helps!
